This page is where you set your team tactics for
your next match. That includes your line up, player
specific instructions and general team information.
Make sure your selections are made before the
start of the matches at 15:00 or 20:00 GMT as appropriate.
Formation
The are a number of formations available to you.
Have a look through the list and check out the different selections. Typically the
formations clearly show rows of defenders, midfielders and attackers. Though one or
two formations, like the diamond ones, allow some flexability with certain positions
sitting between these areas.
On choosing your formation for match day there are a number of things you will
need to consider. The quality of the opposition, the result you need, and most
importantly, the players you have available.
The more defensive formations might be useful against teams which are stronger than
you and the more attacking formations against teams you would hope to beat.
However, if you only have two attackers available, the a 3-3-4 formation might not
be the best option.
Note however, you can play any player in any position. Yes, even a keeper up front
if you are desperate. Midfielders can play well in defence or attack in addition to
their preferred position. Or a defender with good shooting and heading could make a
formidable attacker on match day.
Also take note of which side of the pitch a player will play on in a formation. Try
to keep left footed players to the left and right footed to the right. Again, there
are no limits to where a player can play with regard to his preferred foot, but he
might be more effective on the correct side of the pitch.
