Injuries
Playing on a poor pitch is going to increase the risk of injuries
slightly. Clearly if there are bumps and slippery patches on the
pitch then the risk of muscle pulls and mistimed tackles is going
to be higher.
Pitch Changes
As said, your pitch quality has a score between 1 and 100. Every time
you play a match at home it is going to drop by 1 point. So that
could be 3 or 4 points lost a week depending on how many competitions
you are playing in.
To improve your pitch you need to pay for contactors to come in
and work on it. Go to your stadium page and click on the 'Improve
Pitch' button. All pitch improvement work is carried out on a
Sunday at 15:00 GMT and you will gain 10 points. You can only arrange work
to be carried out on your pitch once a week.
The cost of the work varies depending on the current quality of
your pitch. The better your pitch is the more expensive the work
will be to improve it further.
