Professional teams are placed into leagues of nine divisions.
Each division has 14 teams in it. Each team plays the other 13 teams
twice, once at home and once away. So that is a total of 26 games
in the season. At two league matches a week it takes approximately
three months to complete a season.
Within each league there are Divisions 1 to 3 and then from divisions
4 to 7 there is an A and B division,
eg. Division 4A and Division 4B.
Each league has promotion and relegation for the top and bottom three teams
with the exception of Division 3 and the two Division 4s. At the end of the season
the bottom four teams are relegated from Division 3 and the top two teams from
each of the Division 4s are promoted.
League matches are played on Saturdays at
15:00 GMT and Wednesdays at 20:00. Make sure you have your team selections
completed before kick-off to ensure the tactics you want are used in the match.
When your team turns Professional it will have a short wait until a place in
a Professional League is available. This will happen when either one of the current
leagues seasons ends or enough new Professional teams are waiting to
allowing us to create a new Professional League.
When a league completes, any teams in the bottom divisions who have not re-registered
will be removed and their places given to Professional teams waiting in the Amateur
League. Therefore, if you are placed in a currently running league your team will start
in the bottom division.
